Peter Roehr (*1944 Lauenburg; †1968 Frankfurt am Main, Germany) is considered one of the first protagonist of minimal art in Germany. Roehr often places industrially produced elements or printed images into serial sequences. Through the summation and repetition of the same motive, subjectivity is suspended and the particularity of the repeated piece, the applied ordering principle and the emerging macro form of the art work comes into focus. His arranged materials, that also include typographic sequences and film montages, often relate to mass society.

His works have been shown in solo exhibitions at Kunsthaus Wiesbaden (2024), Ortuzar Projects, New York (2018), MMK, Frankfurt am Main (2017), Tate Modern, London (2013), Städel Museum, Frankfurt (2009), Modern Art Oxford (1978), Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (1977) and many others.

Furthermore, the artist has taken part in numerous group shows, including exhibitions at Mercedes-Benz Museum, Stuttgart (2022), mumok, Vienna (2020), Kunstmuseum Luzern (2020), Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg (2017), Philadelphia Museum of Art (2016), Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt am Main (2014), Haus der Kunst, Munich (2010), LACMA, Los Angeles (2004), Guggenheim Museum, New York (1993) Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humblebæk (1993), and at documenta 6, and 5, Kassel (1977, 1972).
